Mycroft, being protective of his younger brother’s heart (and equally impressed by Anthea’s intelligence and knack for technology), offered her a position as his assistant. She accepted, and was given a generous sum of money to pay off her student debt and live comfortably. Sherlock saw this as a betrayal, and was convinced she was ‘just another spy’ in his brother’s employ. Their relationship ended on bad terms, but the two have continued to text regularly… old feelings still lingering beneath the surface. Coincidentally, Anthea has never indulged or answered Mycroft’s questions about their relationship…
